Elizabeth Warren is a fiercely intelligent, compassionate and incredibly competent woman, who is very likely to become the next senator from Massachusetts. This soon to be reality is freaking Republicans out so much that they seem to have lost touch with reality. They have just created a hilarious attack ad, complete with scary menacing music, attempting to smear Warren. The ad is so inadvertently funny, that I have difficulty believing that it is really a legitimate commercial, and not just some kind of satirical prank

The world is still reeling in the aftermath of the brutal violent attack upon hundreds of Occupy Oakland protesters this week. Scores of innocent people were hurt by the officers, including military veteran Scott Olsen, who is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. The 24 year old Daly City resident works for a San Francisco software firm, and still remains in critical condition at Highland Hospital in Oakland.

Expansive stands of dead pine forests are a sad reminder of the devastation wrought by the bark beetle upon the mountain lands in the West. Hopefully, these dead trees will serve as an urgent reminder that much more still needs to be done to sustainably deal with the tremendous amounts of biomass from so many withered forests.

The green movement has been emphasizing the importance of going local in day-to-day life, from what you purchase to keep in your fridge and pantry at home, to how you get from place to place — whether you’re heading to work, school, or back home. ‘Going local’ helps to take people off the roads as much as possible — at least keep their automobiles of the road — to prevent even higher levels of harmful emissions.
