Visualize 29,000 Dead Somali Children

A Pound of Rice

There are about 29,000 grains of rice in a one-pound bag. Each grain of life-saving food could represent a child lost. One bag of rice alone is enough to feed ten people. Since these were children under the age of five, simply having healthy mothers who were able to nurse would have been enough to sustain their lives. Imagining so much death is simply too much to bare, yet we must if an we want a happier alternative ending.
