I just came across this excellent animation which deftly explains just what hydraulic fracturing is, and how the toxic unregulated natural gas drilling procedure is poisoning our planet’s water supply. This educational fracking song is both catchy and easy to understand, quite a feat when you are trying to convey so many different components of such a complicated, explosive and deadly issue.
“My Water’s on Fire Tonight (The Fracking Song)” is a joint project of public interest journalists ProPublica, and New York University’s Studio 20. The NYU graduate program focuses on innovation and adapting journalism to the web, and their curriculum emphasizes project-based learning. Their collaboration has created an incredibly useful and accessible tool that will hopefully help to spread the word about the catastrophic dangers of hydraulic fracturing.
