Inspiration for Earth Day – Taking Refuge in the Earth Sangha

Like the Buddha, we must awaken from the illusion of separateness

On the journey to heal our planet we must begin with ourselves. But when the Earth’s suffering fills our hearts with deep sadness it’s important that we don’t despair. Yet it’s difficult to keep our spirits and energy up when there are such enormous challenges to overcome as we try to do our small part to stop the environmental damage and destruction caused by our species.

We are all connected, all creatures, the air, water and planet. As another Earth Day approaches I’m moved to share some ancient but thought provoking perspectives as presented by some of Buddhism’s best known and respected contemporary teachers and practitioners. Here is a sample of some alternative thinking that is offered to help us in healing our planet.
