Taking Aim: First Wolf Hunt in 45 Years Expected In Sweden

For the first time in 45 years, a wolf hunt is expected to take place in Sweden. In October, the Swedish parliament made the decision to limit the wolf population to 210 animals and will issue hunting permits in areas where the wolves have reproduced in the past three years.

6,000 Camels to be Shot to Death in “Humane” Aerial Cull

Thousands of feral camels, in search of water, are reportedly wreaking havoc on the small Australian town of Docker River.  The dromedaries are destroying property and infrastructure and have reportedly overtaken the airstrip.   Some of the thirsty camels have been killed in stampedes at watering holes, contaminating the town’s water supply.  Authorities call the situation critical.

Tara the Elephant: Another Elephant Dies at Toronto Zoo

Tara, the African elephant, is dead.  The 41-year-old pachyderm died unexpectedly yesterday morning at the Toronto Zoo in Ontario, Canada.  According to a press release, staff found the elephant lying down in the Elephant House at about 8:00 A.M.
