1BOG Launches New LA Solar Program. Gives Members Money Back and New Online Solar Tool

Today, One Block Off the Grid (1BOG) launched a new Los Angeles solar power program. That means homeowners can now get free information about whether solar power would work in their home, how much it would cost, what discounts and rebates they can receive, and how the buying process works. Most importantly, the 1BOG Los Angeles solar community can now get solar installed for only $5.56 per watt – which works out to 23% below standard 2009 rates. 1BOG negotiated this group discount from campaign installer partner SunWize Technologies.

For this three-month Los Angeles campaign, 1BOG is also piloting a Community Reward program, which automatically gives every 1BOG community member who goes solar $100.00 cash back. In addition, for every additional person to purchase solar through this buying group, each customer in the group will receive an additional $10.00.

“After a month-long vetting process, SunWize was selected not only for the great 1BOG solar discount they could offer, but also for the company’s proven track record of great installations and customer service, reliable warranties, high-quality products and viable business model,” said Brad Burton, head of product and strategy. “Our goal is to enable members to further save money on solar energy systems, and to bring together a community in which members can begin to articulate their questions about solar and get excited about industry progress.”

LA homeowners now can also try out 1BOG’s brand new Online Solar Estimate Tool, which gives homeowners the most accurate real-time estimate of what solar would cost. This free tool uses basic information about the location of the home and utility provider to provide an instant roof analysis, eliminating the need to schedule home evaluations with different installers and compare quotes. Users can also see the local rebates and tax incentives, how long it would take for the system to pay itself off, and how much carbon dioxide they would save by installing a system.

1BOG’s previous two Los Angeles solar community programs are responsible for 102 solar installations in the Los Angeles area. It has similar programs in New Orleans, Denver, Phoenix and other cities in California.
