What were they thinking? Two 27-year-old men gained unauthorized access to the Calgary Zoo earlier this week. According to officials, the Canadian men scaled the zoo’s 8-foot perimeter fence, lined with three rows of barbed wire, at about 1:00 A.M. Monday morning.
Once inside the zoo, the two unidentified men scaled a second fence, an outer safety fence near the tiger enclosure. Although it is believed the men did not physically enter the cage, they were between a safety fence and another fence, which startled Vitali, a two-year-old Siberian male
tiger.
At a news conference on Monday, Head of Veterinary Services Dr. Sandie Black said, “My guess would be that the gentleman was hooked by a claw and the arm dragged in and then continued to be attacked from that point.”
Armed with very sharp claws, the tiger was most likely trying to protect himself. The second man helped to free his friend from the clutch of the tiger. One man is hospitalized with serious bite and claw injuries. Although amputation of one arm may be necessary, he is expected to recover. The second man suffered minor injuries. Vitali initially showed signs of stress after the incident, but was uninjured.
Dr. Black said that Vitali is normally one of the most “laid-back cats” at the zoo and has never attacked anyone previously. Officials at the zoo are reviewing their procedures. The tiger exhibit remains open. Police are investigating the incident. Criminal charges of “break and enter” and “trespassing” are being considered.

YESSSSS the Tiger scores!
Tiger 1 – 0 Dimwit
Recover?
Doubt he’ll sleep well for years to come.
So be it!
Criminal charges are being “considered”? I hope they are punished within the full extent of the law. Idiots.
Classic. Everyone once in a while, one is privileged enough to observe karma being swiftly and surely visited upon the limp-minded.
Sounds like they were nearly up for a Darwin Award…
