Scaredy Cat: Timid Tiger Stuck on Tower

Bengal Tiger

A ferocious two-year-old Bengal tiger, Tanvir, spent over 24 hours on a 15-foot activity tower at the Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm in Bristol.

On Monday, the “mischievous” tiger scaled the tall tower for the very first time.  Tanvir, who is being referred to as a “wimp,” managed to scour the tall tower in mere minutes. But despite his ferocious reputation, this timid tiger was just too scared to come back down.  Apparently not a lover of heights, it took the tiger about half an hour to descend from the smaller 5-foot tower on another occasion!

Officials are not giving the tiger food or water, since that would probably prolong his stay on the perch.  Spokeswoman Samantha Cordrey said, ”He’s on a big platform, just lying down. He will call to you but won’t climb down. He stands up, looks around, stretches out his paw to see how far he thinks it is, then decides against it.”

Update: Good news for Tanvir!  On Tuesday, at about 2100 BST, the hungry tiger finally gathered up all his courage, took a leap of faith and braved the long 15-foot-journey back down the tower.  After his stressful ordeal, he was given a pig’s head to eat.

Very funny! These animals are gorgeous and ferocious but can still be just like the rest of us sometimes. They have fears to you know… :P
