Out for a walk with its owner, a young elephant fell through a manhole into a drainage ditch in the Rayong province of Thailand. Stuck for hours, the frightened calf was wedged into a three-foot-hole with its front feet sticking out.
But with the help of a bulldozer and three hours of hard work, rescuers were finally able to free the elephant, who was not harmed in the incident.
Sadly, because baby elephants are popular with tourists, many are put to work on the streets by soliciting money or performing tricks.
