There are some very cool things in Genesee County, Michigan that many people don’t know about.
Everything is always focused on GM and all the terrible things that happen. One fabulous thing about Genesee County is our parks and all that they have to offer including free programs for families and children and several really cool places you have got to check out, like Crossroads Village and the Genesee Belle paddleboat.
Almost everyone knows about Crossroads Village where you can experience life as it was over one hundred years ago. The historical park is full of old homes, churches, shops and even a one room schoolhouse. It is also home to the old Huckleberry Railroad with a historical train that is so much fun to ride. But many people don’t know about the Genesee Belle.
The Genesee Belle Paddlewheel Riverboat is a replica of the types of boats that traveled down the Mississippi River in Mark Twain’s era. With an upper deck where you can feel the cool breeze blowing across Mott Lake and the enclosed lower level where you can get a spectacular view of the scenery, this is an experience you have to try.
The Genesee Belle cruises around Mott Lake and departs from Stepping Stone Falls (another site that should not be missed in Genesee County). The Genesee Belle offers a couple types of cruises.
On Friday evenings you can go for a simple 45 minute cruise for just $2.50 a person for adults and $1.50 per person for children under 12. During the week you can go on a lunch cruise on Wednesdays from 12-1pm for $15.95 a person this includes your entree, drink, chips, cookie and the ride on the Belle. Occasionally special dinner cruises are offered like musical cruises and murder mysteries. The Genesee Belle is also available to be chartered for special occasions.
