Earth Day Activities In and Around Flint and Genesee County

Arch at For-Mar Nature PreserveSeveral Earth Day events in Flint and around Genesee County, Michigan are kicking off this weekend.

Mott Community College, For-Mar Nature Preserve, Ligon Outdoor Center and downtown Lapeer are all hosting Earth Day events and celebrations.

 

This Saturday April 18th from 9 AM -3 PM Mott Community College has a huge line-up of green events including a recycled art contest for kids, recycling information, wildlife presentations and exhibits, fuel efficient and hybrid auto show, greenhouse tours, gardening programs and other activities for the whole family.

Also Saturday April 18th from 11 Am to 3:30 PM For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum  is holding their annual Earth day event which includes volunteer opportunities to participate in cleaning up the grounds and celebrating Earth Day. Recycling information, crafts, and refreshments will also be available.

On April 25th from 10 AM to 4 PM downtown Lapeer is hosting their annual Wild Lapeerfestival which started out as an Earth Day celebration but has expanded to everything local, green and outdoors. You can get a free canoe ride from park to park, check out the Farmer’s market and participate in all kinds of fun activities.

Another green event on April 25th is being held at Ligon Outdoor Center sponsored by the Bridges to the Future Program. The Earth Festival is free and open to the public. The festival is featuring a trash art and craft area, a nature treasure hunt, a visit to the reptile house, a tree sale, and other fun family activities including a solar cookout. This is a special event by kids for kids. So drop by with the family and have fun.
