Eco Gift About More Than Just Shopping
With Christmas quickly sneaking up on us, the time is now to get to that holiday shopping. This weekend, the Eco Gift Festival returns to Santa Monica for its second year, offering more than just endless booths of sustainable, eco-friendly finds (though those are great, too).
This year, organizers have added a multitude of speakers and musicians, making this event more than just a gift-buying frenzy. Their big “get”? Arianna Huffington, nationally-syndicated columnist, author, radio host, and founder of The Huffington Post, one of the most-read news and blog sites on the internet. Huffington takes the stage at 2pm on Saturday the 13th. Other speakers include fashion designer Linda Loudermilk and John Marshall Roberts, author of “Igniting Inspiration: A Persuasion Manual for Visionaries”.

Another cool feature of the event has to be sponsor The Los Angeles Times’ “eco-wrapping station”, which will help shoppers wrap their newly bought treasures in the LA Times section of their choice. Organic food will also be available.
The event takes place Friday and Saturday, December 12th and 13th from 10am-8pm, and Sunday the 14th from 11am-8pm at the Santa Monica Civic Center. Entry sets you back $10, unless you’re under 12 or over 65, in which case it’s free. Organizers will donate 10% of the proceeds to select Los Angeles charities. Check it out – it’s the perfect opportunity to “vote with your dollars” against cheap (and sometimes dangerous) mass-produced junk.
