[...] Shirley’s Zero Dollar Christmas Challenge got me thinking a about the upcoming holidays. Christmas can be so wasteful! Between the energy that goes into production for all of those presents, the shipping, and the gift wrap Christmas presents can be an enormous energy suck.
Aw, I love a handmade holiday! We're doing a series on that very thing over at Crafting a Green World. Most of my gifts are handmade, though I am getting a few storebought presents this year for a couple of folks who want very specific gifts that I just can't make myself.

Though I do agree that xmas has become all to monetary in nature, I'm less excited about the zero dollar angle and more excited when people make their own presents. An alternative is to spend a reasonable amount of money on handmade gifts from local artisans.

What a great idea! Due to our financial situation, we already advised our friends and family that we will not be giving, nor would we like to receive, any holiday gifts this year. So for me the Zero Dollar Challenge is exciting! Thanks for sharing the ideas...
