Truth is that incorporating locally grown organic produce into our diets is a great idea. However, we must also realize that agricultural produce from other areas and countries supports the people whose lives depend on growing and selling their produce, whether it is across this country or from the many other countries which ship their produce to wherever there is a market for it. Unless we are able to create a utopian world where each country can be completely self supporting, people from everywhere need to find a way to feed their families and support their nations. Growing and selling food beats growing and selling drugs. Making and selling hard goods and finding fair trade markets for them is pulling much of the poorer nations out of poverty. Balance is the answer.
