More than changing cultural traditions...it has been even more difficult to stop people from adopting a wasteful and high-consumption lifestyle, that is coming as a by-product of &quot;development&quot;.</description>

		<description>Thank you, Mr. Singh, for this article and for the article posted on the 19th. concerning the third South Asian Conference on Sanitation.  India faces so many challenges.  I have worked with the Save the Children Fund as well as the Canadian International Development Agency and have known many people who have travelled to this beautiful and diverse country.  It is true that it is very difficult to change cultural traditions and promote and pay for fundamental improvements.  It is encouraging to read of the cooperation and concerted efforts of the Indian government to improve their peoples living standards and environment.</description>
