With all the wind we get here it's amazing that it's taken so long to get some wind power going.

The challenges are great, and in the past weak politicians would use that fact as a reason to do nothing, playing into the hand of those currently running the show. But we now see, at least in a few situations, a new sense of bravery, as leaders emerge who are willing to try the "impossible".

If you have ever been to Hawaii you know that it is a green land full of energy that does not need to be polluted and the state moving in this direction is great. I read on http://www.poweredgenerators.com/wind-power-generators.html that Maui has wind turbines on the hills near the west side of the island that generate lots of energy but are not eyesores. More states need to take this effort.

Kate - thanks for the comment. Hopefully the progress made in Hawaii will actually serve as a model for other states to follow.

Hawaii may not have any fossil fuel sources, but there is plenty of wind and sun!

This is great news! I am so happy to hear about this initiative by Hawaii!

It is so smart because it not only will decrease Hawaii's reliance on fossil fuels, it will also decrease pollution for the beautiful state that has an economy based on tourism...How many people want to vacation in a place with air pollution? Not me...

I hope other states follow Hawaii's lead!

Thank you for the great post!
