Why not just make a 8,000,000 grant towards Africans appropriately implementing existing sustainable technologies according to their needs and skills. Perhaps through working with appropriate technology groups like Practical Action (http://practicalaction.org. ) Let African communities prioritise which technologies and solutions they need.

I really think someone should consider Gaiacomm International for its Tesla Technology for wireless electric power and 4G wireless cell phones. Oh yes, and the tricke-charge battery for electric cars.

Africa could use this technology and move away from dependency on the USA and others that think that Africa is a thrid world continent.

I agree that the ideas that will change our world for the better are what is important, not where they came from. With all the sun light that is available in the worlds deserts we should be able do reduce the need for oil world wide. The farming of algae in tropical areas can produce enough fuel that is carbon neutral to run all the econnomies on this planet. We only need to get started. The people with the money and power who can ensure the changes we need must be convinced that the change is imperitive for the servival of our species. With out this kind of enlightenment amongst our world leaders and big conglamorents on this planet we will not see enough change soon enough to save our asses never mind save a buck or two.

Agreed anon, except that the problem we have isn't original thought and innovation, but how to bring these concepts to the public at large. I hate McCain, and I hate Al Gore, but most of all, I hate people ragging on others for embracing positive change because the idea wasn't theirs.

Origin of thought doesn't matter. What matters is getting these ideas into the heads of people who can do something about it, or else we're no better than arm-chair quarterbacks.

I agree, it's a bit silly to bring McCain into this one.
Regarding Al Gore, however, please check your facts before perpetuating a myth.
