This is too beautiful a place to ruin. What else can we do to help protect this jewel of nature?

As the co-director of the international coalition for responsible tourism, I would like to tell you that it will be quite difficult to make tourists sensitive about ecological problems.... and take away garbage in their countries. I would like also that all human people understand that we have to live with our nature and not against but... it's a quite tough job!

Moreover, I think this could be very interestin to make local people sensitive about their own environment, their own beaches. This can be realized by environmental education in schools for example...

Local tourit authorities & professionals have also a role in this environmental degradation. Something must be done to collect and manage the garbage by raising taxes for example...

Well-researched article, I couldn't agree with you more... Not only is Thailand's unrestrained tourism killing the very environment that drew the tourists in the first place, but it's also killing the local cultures.
