Thailand and India have some the strangest, most unique, and scarest transportation systems I have ever seen. Although, the transportation systems are fun for the tourist who visit, for the locals and expats it is a nightmare and a risk to safety.

The governments try to take action, but I think the citizens need to be educated on the dangers and how to make transportation safer by everyone working together.

I do not see any of this changing soon though.

If you're traveling through New Mexico, you might want to take the tram up to Sandia Peak on the east edge of Albuquerque, the city's escape the heat summer playground and the neighborhood ski resort in the winter.

If you're lucky, you can see people jump off and paraglide down. Don't come April 14-17 though. It's maintenance time. It's the windy season anyway.

Remember, it's over 10,000 feet above sea level, so you might feel a little giddy if you're not use to the altitude. Take a sweater if you plan to watch the sunset...hard to remember in the summer, when the city a mile below is at 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you want to hoof it up the mountain, there is La Luz trail. Not much of a challenge to mountain climbers, but if you're a little out of shape, take lots of water, a snack, and maybe a space blanket and a cell phone. Stay on the trail. Don't feed the cute little critters anywhere in the Southwest.

Nice post, Gavin.

If you haven't already, I strongly recommend Michael Pallen's very funny documentary series called "Pole to Pole." Pallen (of Monty Python fame/ Stuttering Ken from a Fish Called Wanda)went from the south pole to the north pole (or v/v) using only public transportation.

He made another series where he went around the world using public transit. Very funny and educational stuff. Highly recommended!
