		<description>Dear Gavin:

Good news about Santa Claus and Peace. It&#039;s now 2009, and The Santa Claus Peace Council in Antalya, Turkey, near where St. Nicholas lived, has awarded me (Santa Claus) its 2009 Peace Award for my foundation&#039;s advocacy on behalf of millions of vulnerable children in dire straits.

The Santa Claus Peace Council believes, as I do, that it&#039;s extremely important to instill a true sense of peace within every child, and foster peace within their family, their community, country, and the world. Children are our future, especially those who are abused, neglected, exploited, abandoned, homeless, and institutionalized through no fault of their own.

As a Christian Monk, like St. Nicholas was many centuries ago, I believe that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, not the crass, commercial, secular spectacle it has become in many places, and that the greatest gift one can give is love, not presents.

Thank you for recognizing and writing about the gifts and practice of humility, caring, and compassion, and the spirit of love and giving.

Blessings to all, Santa Claus
